dr. Nancy Soll Shosid

Dr. Nancy Shosid is a graduate of The University of Texas in Austin where she graduated with Plan II high honors and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honors society. After graduating from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she was a member of AOA Medical Honors Society, she returned to Dallas to complete her training. She completed a pediatric internship at Children’s Medical Center, and completed the adult psychiatry program at University of Texas Southwestern and a Child and Adolescent fellowship at the Timberlawn Teaching Hospital.

She has been chosen repeatedly by her peers in D Magazine as one of the “Best Pediatric Specialists in Dallas.” Over the years, Dr. Shosid has been involved in teaching child and adolescent psychiatry residents at UT Southwestern as a Clinical Professor. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. 

Dr. Shosid is available for evaluations and  consultations, second opinions, psychotherapy and medication management. She has extensive experience working with Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorders among others. She has worked closely with many of the private schools in the Dallas area as well as many of the surrounding public districts.

Dr. Shosid has a special interest in the role of exercise in mental health and specifically in the treatment of depression. She enjoys running, cycling and yoga in her free time. 

Dr Shosid has completed a Functional Psychiatry Fellowship with Dr. James Greenblatt the founder of  Psychiatry Redefined. She offers Functional Psychiatry Evaluations as well as incorporating functional practices into her traditional psychiatry practice. In essence, functional psychiatry tries to identify underlying causes that may causing or contributing to psychiatric symptoms and not just treating the symptoms.  (See Functional Psychiatry Evaluation for a more thorough description). Dr Shosid believes in an Integrative approach to Psychiatry. This includes addressing the role of exercise, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, mindfulness, stress reduction and social connections/community in promoting mental health.
